Kylian Mbappé is reportedly set to leave Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expires at the end of June. There’s much speculation that he might join Real Madrid as a free agent. However, a football pundit cautions Real Madrid against bringing in the PSG star.

The Parisians fell 1-0 to Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semifinal tie on Wednesday. Mbappé didn’t contribute to the score, and Julio Maldonado, known as ‘Maldini,’ stated that the Frenchman playing the No. 9 role does more harm than good on the pitch.

“The truth is that I think that position of No. 9 harms him,” Maldini said (h/t Defensa Central). “In the first half they practically didn’t find him and in the second he became desperate. It is true that he came into the game a little more, he had the stick and some key passes to Dembele, but in the first half he is uncomfortable. I think I give it a 5 as a rating.

“In the first half he appears and in the second half he generates a couple of opportunities. We expect more from Mbappé in a game like this, but I approve of him for the details he left. In a match of this level he has to do more… When PSG’s level improves somewhat, the French club has reasons to be optimistic, but Mbappé looks uncomfortable in that No. 9 position.”

Mbappé can wrap up his PSG career, possibly reaching the UEFA Champions League final and winning the trophy that has long eluded the club as a sign-off. Nonetheless, the French giants will need to overcome a 1-0 deficit to punch their ticket to Wembley.

Nonetheless, the Ligue 1 side will have to overturn their 1-0 deficit to advance past Dortmund next week.
