Alexander Volkov vs. Tai Tuivasa is in the books.

Volkov and Tuivasa took the co-headlining spot on the UFC 293 card. The two went one-on-one inside the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia. Tuivasa was hoping to avoid a three-fight skid, while Volkov looked to extend his winning streak to three.

Volkov went for a leg kick early. Tuivasa returned the favor with a leg kick of his own. A jab landed for "Drago." A body kick was there for Volkov, but it was answered by a body punch from "Bam Bam." Tuivasa was happy to chase Volkov, but stopped short to avoid eating a counter shot. Volkov landed a counter right hand. A solid leg kick landed for Tuivasa. Volkov landed another counter right hand that buzzed "Bam Bam." A combination was there for Volkov near the end of the round.

The damage from Tuivasa's leg kicks were evident at the beginning of round two. The fighters hit the mat and Volkov moved to full guard. He rained down ground-and-pound and went for an arm triangle. Tuivasa escaped and Volkov briefly took his back. Volkov eventually moved back to mount. Near the end of the round, Volkov submitted Tuivasa with an Ezekiel choke.
